Bandung, November 21, 2025 – The Indonesian Consortium of Biotechnology (KBI) played a pivotal role at the 12th International Symposium of Innovative Bioproduction on Biotechnology & Bioengineering (ISIBio) 2025, held at the Unpad Training Center Dago Hotel. Bringing together leading experts, policymakers, and industry leaders, the symposium focused on accelerating the transition toward a green economy through advanced biotechnology.

The event, which ran from November 20-21, featured a robust agenda centered on energy transition, circular bioeconomy, and biopolymer materials. KBI’s active participation highlighted the consortium’s commitment to bridging the gap between research innovation and industrial application.

A major highlight of the symposium was the keynote address delivered by KBI President, Dr. Wahyu Purbowasito, who also serves as the Deputy for Accreditation at the National Standardization Agency (BSN). In his presentation, titled “Harmonizing Standards to Support Circular Bioeconomy Implementation,” Dr. Wahyu emphasized the critical need for standardized frameworks to facilitate the adoption of circular economy practices across industries.

Further demonstrating KBI’s leadership, Vice President Prof. Dr. Puspita Lisdiyanti, M. Agr, Chem., served as the moderator for Keynote Session 1, guiding the discussion on policy and green industry alongside Prof. Tirto Prakoso from ITB.

The symposium provided a platform for KBI members to showcase tangible industrial solutions. During Plenary Session 4 (21/11) on Microalgae & Applied Biotech, Falasifah, S. Si from PT Albitec delivered an insightful presentation on “Microalgae Innovation from Lab to Industry: Scaling Biomass Solutions for Food Security and Green Energy”. This session underscored the vital role of microalgae in addressing global food and energy challenges.

The success of ISIBio 2025 was bolstered by the strong support of KBI members. Companies such as PT Albitec, PT Indotech Sains Inti, PT Advinsains, and PT Genecraft were instrumental as sponsors, demonstrating the private sector’s commitment to advancing national biotechnology. KBI extends its highest appreciation to the Organizing Committee, the host institutions including the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and Universitas Padjadjaran, and all co-host organizations for executing a world-class symposium.

KBI remains dedicated to fostering collaborations that propel Indonesia’s bioeconomy forward. By connecting regulators, researchers, and industry players, KBI continues to ensure that biotechnological innovations are effectively translated into sustainable economic growth.
